2015-16 TWICE Seasonal Collaborative Events
These are Matching Events which means you sign up for a day and time for your connection and you will be matched with a partner (we do our best to accommodate your day and time, but flexibility is appreciated).
You must be a member of TWICE (information about TWICE membership is listed under the FAQ tab in CAPspace) AND attached to verified equipment in CAPspace (a blue and red monitor icon is on your profile page if your equipment has been verified).

Animals

Grades: K-2 30-min. connection
Registration: Sept. 9-17 Event: Oct. 12-16
Classes will choose an animal to learn about. Students will research information about the animal and create clues to share with their partner class.

Crazy Creature
Collaborations

Grades: PreK-3 60-min. connection
Registration: Sept. 21-Oct. 2 Event: Oct. 28-Oct. 30 & Nov. 2-5
Each class will create a creature with a creepy theme. Students will then write a description of their crazy creature for their partner class to replicate. During the videoconference the classes will compare their original creatures with the replicated creatures.

Scary Story
Symposium

Grades: 4-8 60-min. connection
Registration: Sept. 21-Oct. 2 Event: Oct. 28-Oct. 30 & Nov. 2-5
Classes will exchange the first two parts of a story. The receiving school will finish the other’s stories by writing what happens next. During the VC. The remainder of the story will be read, or creatively presented.

Holiday Customs

Students will exchange a unique holiday custom representing a tradition or them from a different country or part of the world.

individual flake and learning about such things as how American artists have depicted the beauty and wonder of snow and
ice in paintings and photographs, to the mathematical and scientific composition of snowflakes can be fascinating.

Poetry Idol

Registration: March 16-24 Event: April 27-29
To celebrate Poetry Month, students write their own poems or select favorite poetry to perform. After each presentation, students “rate” and share what they liked or what the poetry meant to them.

States

Registration: April 11-20 Event: May 18-20 & 23-25
Amazing American States: K-3 grades
Each class shares a presentation about a state they have chosen. Following the presentations, students ask each other questions about their state or community.

Where is this Amazing American State: 4-8 grades
Each class researches a city and state of your choice and prepare clues for the other class. The other class will attempt to discover the secret location using the Internet, maps, textbooks, etc.
