Exploding Collaborations

Exploding collaborations were developed to solve two issues:

• A good curricular lesson that only needed one partner and left many teachers disappointed that they were not able to participate
• The teacher-creator of a good curricular lesson that had to answer many emails saying he/she already had a partner

The exploding collaboration allows all interested teachers to sign up. The creator/teacher chooses his/her partner(s) and the rest of the teachers pair up to take advantage of this collaborative lesson. The other advantage to an exploding collaboration is that all classes in a grade level at a school, i.e., all 5th grade classes, can post one collaboration and indicate they need 5 partners. Each class will be completing the same lesson but will have different partner classes.
